ST. MARTIN'S CHRISTMAS TREE FESTIVAL WEEKEND

On the weekend of the 6-8th December 2003 St. Martins held it's first "Christmas tree Festival". You may have heard of the flower festival? well substitute beautifully lit and decorated Christmas Trees for flowers and that's what it is. Many hours of work went into decorating the whole church with Chistmas Trees of all types, shapes and sizes. Organisations from St. Martin's and the rest of the village contributed themed displays for the whole church. There was even a lit Christmas Tree on top of the tower. Many people visited the church to see the festival and everyone was very impressed. On the Saturday night there was a concert "Christmas is Coming" organised by the Revd. Peter Folks and family but including contibutions from musicians of St. Martins. The evening was tremendously successful with the backdrop of the trees twinkling away. There were organ solos, flutes, singing and comedy all washed down with mulled wine and mince pies. Our thanks to all who contributed in any way.On the Sunday evening we held a Christmas Tree "Songs of Praise" which was also well attended. The whole weekend was such a succes that we feel that 2004 may see a repeat.
