PuppySunday October 3rd, Animal Welfare Service

If you are fortunate enough to own a pet, or just love animals, would you like to come along to St Martin’s Church in Desford on Sunday 3rd October at 3.00pm? To celebrate the Church of England’s “Animal Welfare Sunday” we will be holding a special service to give thanks to God for the joy that animals can bring.

We would love you to bring your pets with you, dogs on leads, cats and other pets safe and secure in cages please. We are very fortunate to have a speaker from Leicester Animal Aid, based in Huncote, talking to us, and refreshments (and Bonios) will be available after the service.

Please tell your friends and neighbours, everyone is welcome whether or not you have a pet. We would love this occasion to be a success and maybe become a regular annual event in the village! for more info email us at info@stmartinsdesford.org.uk

Music at St.Martin'sMusic at St.Martin'sMusic at St.Martin'sMusic at St. Martin's

Here at St Martin’s we have two singing groups each offering different types of music in church.

First of all there is our choir where members sing week by week and lead our worship. During the summer months we have welcomed back members who have been away, mostly at university, and it’s been great to have them with us again. As we move into the autumn our thoughts (sorry!) turn to Christmas and the extra services where we will be singing and playing. We rehearse on a Thursday in church between 6pm and 7.30pm. If you would like to join us, perhaps on a temporary basis to help us with our Christmas music, we would love to see you and you would be most welcome.

Our other group is the Beaufort Entertainers which generally meets on a Monday between 7.30pm – 9pm at 4 Beaufort Close, Desford, and performs two concerts each year. This group performs a mixture of religious and light music along with other items which now includes our ‘famous’ seasonal pantomime. Our next concert will be on Saturday 4th December as part of the flower festival. We begin rehearsals on Monday 20th September and, again, anyone who enjoys singing would be made most welcome.

Membership is not restricted to only one group as we have some people who sing in both groups. If you enjoy music and would like to know more
then please speak to me either in church, come along to a rehearsal or contact me by email or telephone.
