Phyllis Chapman Memorial Challenge 2008

This year’s challenge will be over the Bristol and Bath Railway Path.
You can go on a virtual tour on www.bristolbathrailwaypath.org.uk

It is another Cycle Path on an old railway. We will be cycling from Monkton Combe (Brassnocker Basin) Cycle hire Centre along Cycle Route 4 (the Kenett & Avon Canal Tow Path) to join the Bristol and Bath Railway Path in Bath. We have extended the route to allow for bike hire.

The route is about 18 miles in each direction. We aim to cycle as far as we can by lunch time (in a group if possible), have lunch and then go back. The route is mostly tarmac paths, with a small amount of road cycling, as we switch trails.

Cycle Hire is £14 for the day. You can borrow a helmet, but, as they accept no liability, it is better to bring your own. All bikes are supplied with a spare inner tube, puncture repair kit and bike lock. Cars may be left at Brassknocker Basin for a charge of £3.50 for the day. There are also café and toilets.

Our Campsite is the Newton Mill Camping, Newton Road, Bath, N.E. Somerset BA2 9JF. It is lovely campsite, with good facilities, which include toilets, showers, a play area and a small restaurant and ‘pub; open in the evenings and at breakfast!

The cost of a pitch (2 adults, a car and a medium tent) is £17.50 per night. Additional adults cost £5 and children under 16 cost £2.50 per night. I have provisionally booked 6 pitches , but need to know if more are needed a.s.a.p
